I just came across this great article on frugality and tightwadding on Yahoo news of all places. I couldn't help chuckling at the writer's slightly mystified sounding reference to making one's own laundry detergent--we've been doing this for almost a year now and love it.

I chuckled at the part about the woman drying her hair in front of a fan because her blow dryer broke. I used to do that in college! The hand dryers in the dorm bathrooms worked awesome for a quick dry!
I did that too while on vacation, only I used the vents in my car--it was a desperate situation! :)Luckily, I just had to dry my bangs so they wouldn't be too wonky looking.
